When Westrail withdrew the 'KA class' locomotives, KA213 was purchased by the Goninan Group and converted to a mobile engine test bed, which included the removal of the front and engine hoods, and much of the equipment fitted. The cab was retained but repositioned at the front of the frame.

The mobile test bed has been used on various projects over the years and had been heavily modified for many of them. It's current status is not currently known.
