Up until the mid-1990s the solitary member of the D34 class was common on the colliery lines eminating from Port Kembla. Sadly due to excessive track wear in later years in was confined to the steelworks area. On May 23rd, 1993 no. D34 is seen at the Kemira Valley Laoding Point.
