Not all the Queensland 1300/1320 class locomotives were returned to service, and some of those that were saw very little use. At Launceston a number of Queensland Blue liviered ZC class locomotives are seen awaiting their fate. Left to right are no.s ZC31, 1302 and ZC6

In the early days of the website, there was quite a active news section concerning the movements of Class 37's in the UK and Europe at the time. This area was removed for a couple reasons, downturn in activity being the main one but the direction of the site changed and most of the information being received was being duplicated elsewhere. This type of information is still ´Out there´ on the web, but only here will the information on all areas of 12CSVT action be found together.

Having played around with a few ideas on what to call this section of ´English Electric Growl´, it was finally settled for the title Growlette. It had been originally intended to create a separate website called The Growlette that would have included all this and more, but personal circumstances have curtailed this expansion, so I have added a few ideas of the ideas here.

Over the coming months, and years!, it is hoped that this section will expand into an archive of knowledge of things concerning the locomotives that have been fitted with the 12CSVT Diesel engine, not only in the United Kingdom, but from around the globe. It can be seen as a monumental task, but with the help of contributors, I believe it can be done.

The first sub-section of ´Growlette´ is the "Whats´s News" area which is where topical information and photographs of 12CSV action will be noted. The front page will typically show the most recent inforamtion, usually just within the last month. An archive will be developed from information already to hand in my personal archive and, hopefully, added to through the contributions of visitors link yourself.

As this is the news section of the site, it was thought that this was the best place to publish a list of currently planned or publicised Mainline Railtours, planned events on preserved or private railways and special displays at Museums, etc. The ´Railtour´ and ´Preserved Events´ sections will also include archives area, which will show details of the actual routes and motive power that were used, a photograph if possible and additional information as required. Search facilities will be added to all areas.

All activity on the ´mainline´ has dwindled for locomotives powered by the 12CSVT diesel engine across the globe, not totally unexpected due to the age of the design. Although, there are still some trains operated on a regular basis by members of the classes included in the range. With this in mind, a section called ´Mainline Duties´ is to be introduced soon, which will publish details of all known regular (or possible) workings for the locomotives. If you can help in this area, please get in touch.
