How do I send you material for the website?
Contributions can be sent in via the link on the contact page. If you need to send something as a hard copy, use the link on that page to request a land/air mail address.

What format should I send files?

Written articlesTXT, RTF files or DOC
Video filesGood quality MPG or AVI, frame size 720 x 526
PhotographsJPG or PNG, frame size at least 1024 x 768
Sound filesWAV or MP3.
All files must the highest quality settings before they are saved for contribution.

What size of screen will videos be shown?
Videos for the site will be reproduced as 320 x 240 FLV's.

What dimensions do photographs need to be?
The larger the photograph the better, preferably larger than 1024 x 768 pixels.

How about file sizes, etc?
For text articles, photographs and sound files, their size should not exceed 3 MB in one posting. If the files you wish to send are larger than this please, either send files individually or burn them onto a CD and contact us to find an alternative way of sending them.
For Video files, please contact us before posting with as much information on the file as possible.

If I send in information, will it be edited before it is published?
In most cases, YES.

What resolution do I need to use to scan the photographs?
The web displays graphics at 72DPI. As long as you scan the pictures at a greater pixel they can re-sampled them on our computer before they are used on the site. All photographs submitted are will be edited or re-sampled before they are used, to ensure that they fit in with the basic plan of the site.

What information do I need to send in with each photograph?
Please add the name of the photographer, the location, date, train details, etc. so that a suitable caption can be created for the site.
Before photos are added to the site they will have a © symbol with a name added along with the address of this site www.12csv.com. Due to photo theft from other sites, larger images will now have the site name placed across the center of the image, it will be weak enough so that hopefully it will not detract from the photograph.

How should I name the photographs that I submit?
You can name photographs however you like, but please include as much information as possible so that the photo can be credited correctly when uploaded to the site.

I suggest a date_location_loco_Photographer name for any photographs, e.g. 20060321_YstradMynachSouth_37411_VHunter, with as much other information/caption details supplied in the e-mail. If you are sending files on a disc, please create a word or excel document with all the relevant details included.

I want to submit photographs but don't want my name to appear on them?
That's ok, we can credit your photos to Anon or use an pseudonym. Pseudonyms will only be used if they are unique and we at www.12csv.com know your real name. This is to avoid confusion if two people tried to use the same name!

You once offered to add an e-mail link to the photographs? Why was this removed
It was initially intended to cut out the middle man so that anyone interested in a photograph could contact the photographer direct. Due to changes in the site set up, is was thought that it would be better to revert to the original idea and all queries are sent to the site team who will forward them to the appropriate people.

You have offered to add a website link to your site. How does this work?
You send me a photograph and your website link, the photo is then processed into the site format and used where it is seemed fit. Your name(Psuedonym if needed) will then be added to the photographers page with a button that when clicked opens your website.

Why offer links?
This is a way of thanking the people who help make the site what it is!

Will I be paid for the use of my photograph?
Unfortunately, No, this site is run by volunteers who do not have the funds to pay for photographs to be used.

Do I need to compress files before they are sent to the site?
No, just keep an eye on the size of the file and the maximum size accepted which is listed above.

Who owns the copyright of the photograph once it has been published on your site?
The copyright of the original individual images used on the site remains with the photographer/provider.
