These two locos began life in Queensland as 1320 class, then in Tasmania they were ZC class. After a few owner changes and now a rebuild, they are destined for SEFICS in Senegal. All four locomotives of this class derive from the 1300 & 1320 Classes that began life in Queensland. After their move to Tasmania in 1988, all four we recommissioned and joined the ZC Class fleet until ZC22 znd ZC41 were laid aside for attention. That attention never came in Tasmania, but in 1993 both locomotives were bought by Morrison Knudsen and transported to South Australia for refurbishment to become MKA Class locomotives.

ZC16 and ZC17 soldiered on for a number of years and became 2142 and 2142 in 1998 renumbering scheme. They remained in traffic until late 2000, when they were put into store. In 2001 the locomotives were sold for the 'Leisure Rail WA' project, which subsequently failed to come to fruition, and after a number of years in store at Devonport (Don River Railway), they were shipped to Melbourne early in 2005 to be rebuilt for SEFICS.

Since arrival in Senegal, all four locomotives have seen action, but have been dogged by engine problems due to high operating temperatures. Spares have been sourced from the UK during 2007, making two operational by the end of the year. The remaining two locomotives will be overhauled during 2008.
